Political communicator, author and freelancer Alastair Campbell has been announced as the keynote speaker and first member of the expert panel for the National Freelancers Day Event.

The celebrations for this year’s National Freelancers Day are being put into motion with a series of ground breaking films, which will creatively bring to life, key aspects of contracting and from a variety of perspectives: the client’s view, how freelancers add value, what it means to be a freelancer, how to do it properly, and how freelancing can benefit the graduate community, amongst others.

According to Campbell, contracting is not only a cause close to his heart, but one that is becoming increasingly vital to the UK economy.

He said, “I define myself as a freelancer because I do ‘a little bit of this and a little bit of that’ which is often the first thing that comes to mind when you think of a freelancer.

“I also recognise that there are freelancers who are very specialist and have a very particular expertise. I think that in all sectors there is, and indeed should be, a role to play for people brought in either for their expertise or for special projects and that’s why I’m very happy to be supporting and sharing ideas with the sort of people National Freelancers Day represents.”

John Brazier, Managing Director of PCG, the organisers of National Freelancers Day said, “We’re thrilled to be welcoming Alastair Campbell to speak at what promises to be a fascinating event at an inspiring venue.”

The series of short films will be released in the weeks leading up to National Freelancers Day, which will be held on Wednesday 21st November 2012, in London.
