Contractor News Roundup: July 2020
According to the most recent Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC)/KPMG Report on Jobs – IT, engineering and construction contractors experienced increased demand for their services in March. Contractor and temporary vacancies are at their highest level for 19 months – with demand increasing steadily since July 2007. Top if the list, in demand terms, were engineering and construction contractors, with IT contractors hot on their heels.
Now could be a great time to think about contracting, as the report also found that growth in available contractors is at its lowest level for seven months, with skills shortages beginning to appear in the IT and engineering sectors already. It also indicated that it is the private sector in which new opportunities are being created for contractors and temporary workers.
