Contractor vacancies ‘on the up’ according to latest report
According to the latest Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC)/KPMG Report on Jobs, contract vacancies are at the highest level for over three and a half years – since July 2007. In addition, the demand for contractors has also continued to rise over the last 18 months. The report also shows construction and engineering contractors at the head the demand tables, and IT contractors third after ‘blue collar’ manufacturing workers.
Commenting on the results, KPMG’s Head of Business Services Bernard Brown said, “The encouraging trend which started in January continued last month…with billings showing their strongest increase since May 2007. This might be an indication that a private sector led recovery is indeed under way.”
