Good news for freelance contractors in construction sector
Positive workloads in the construction industry could signal good news for professional contractors in the sector, it has been suggested. Figures from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) have revealed that the first quarter of 2010 saw positive movement for the first time in two years.
Nick Whitten, Business Editor of Construction News, commented, “What this could be an indicator of, is that some areas within the whole industry are starting to see growth again, which is obviously good news.” He went on to point out that certain areas are ‘definitely recovering’, including house building and infrastructure. According to the RICS survey, the previous seven quarters had shown a decline in construction workloads, causing difficulties for freelance contractors in the industry, so this positive upturn is excellent news.
