Good news for IT contractors in Scotland
According to the latest Report on Jobs from the Bank of Scotland, the IT sector in Scotland saw the fastest rise in demand in April anywhere in the UK. Meanwhile, demand for non-permanent staff in the IT sector also remained high, with staff more in demand than those working in medical care, blue collar jobs, executive and professional posts, and the accounting and financial sector.
Chief economist at the Bank of Scotland Donald MacRae explained that the number of non-permanent staff vacancies rose in April at the fastest rate in four months, with all eight employment sectors seeing greater demand. Actual contracts awarded to contractors also increased in April. Aberdeen in particular saw a noticeable increase in contractor pay, which could be due to an uplift in oil and gas sector activity.
