The Recruitment and Employment Confederation’s campaign for Good Recruitment has attracted a significant amount of support from some of the world’s most influential employers. River Island, Jaguar Land Rover, WaterAid, Leeds NHS Trust and Johnson and Johnson have all signed up to the campaign in recent months, lending weight to their attempts to promote best practice amongst recruiters.

A total of 73 organisations have now committed to the campaign which includes a Good Recruitment Charter. This is designed to encourage the promotion of diversity and inclusion, promote the benefits of flexible working and ensuring that candidates have excellent experiences within their companies.

The Chief Executive of the REC, Kevin Green, is encouraged by the support that the campaign is receiving. He believes that bringing organisations together to learn from one another will ultimately enable all those involved, both large and small, to attract and retain talented candidates to their workforce.

He believes that joining the campaign demonstrates a commitment to good practice which will appeal to candidates who will see them as good employers. Many of the companies which have signed up to the campaign are concerned to ensure that they are promoting a positive image to potential candidates, especially given that their customer base includes potential employees who will want to feel positive about the company as a potential employer. They believe that this is the way to attract world-class professionals, both for permanent and contract positions.

The latest batch of companies to sign up to the charter join other organisations such as Kelloggs, Santander, Royal Mail, Mercedes-Benz and a host of other internationally renowned businesses. The campaign is also endorsed by ACAS, the Federation of Small Businesses, the Institute of Leadership and Management, CIPD and other bodies that represent employees’ interests in the workplace.

As an independent professional, it can pay to have a working knowledge of some of the things that could affect your finances such as the Flat Rate VAT Scheme and IR35. Our FREE 60 page guide to contracting is an invaluable resource for anyone who want to know more about how to make a success of your contracting career.
