Contractor News Roundup: July 2020
October’s Monster Employment Index has shown that demand for contractors in core areas such as IT and engineering has increased, with online demand bouncing back after an unexpected fall for IT staff in September, which is now considered to have been a ‘blip’. Demand for engineers also increased after remaining static in September.
Commenting on this development, Michael Gentle, spokesperson for Monster UK & Ireland, said, “Over half of the industry sectors record positive online recruitment figures, leaving the labour market as a whole on better footing than a year ago.” Recruiters are saying that engineers, developers and business analysts are still in short supply and this latest market data suggests that prospects for contractors may be stabilising.
