The body formerly known as the Professional Contractors Group (PCG) has confirmed a series of ‘Mastermind’ sessions for contractors working in a variety of sectors. These events have been set up in order to allow UK contractors to meet up, network and discuss development opportunities.

Starting with a meeting in Manchester on October 20th, the tour will take in Aberdeen and Brighton before heading to Edinburgh and then south of the border to Bristol and Watford. Some of the business challenges which will be covered include: How will I grow my business next year? What is my long term plan? How can I increase my perceived value? and how can I adapt and thrive in a buyers’ market?

In addition to the networking opportunities, PCG stated that visitors to the events will benefit from exploring new ways of optimising rates, handling agency relationships and landing desirable roles. The events take place over a four-week period and are free to attend, helping all contractors and freelancers to take another look at their careers, to ensure they are heading on the right work and lifestyle paths. As PCG puts it, “It’s a chance to meet old friends, make new friends, exchange ideas and discuss current markets.”

These events have been announced at a time when PCG is stressing the vital role which contractors play when it comes to complementing the permanent workforce. According to the Group, businesses and other organisations can derive significant benefits from topping up their permanent workforce with external expertise, hiring freelance professionals which bring enormous flexibility and agility. Employers need to draw on the abilities and experiences of both permanent and freelance workers, looking at common mistakes and following key tips to ensure success.
