Positions for IT contractors up by 11% in last quarter
A report by e-skills shows the number of contractor vacancies rose by 11% in the last quarter of the year compared to the previous quarter, which is an astonishing annual rate of 44%. And even permanent positions were up 8% on the previous quarter, with vacancies at their highest level since the 4th quarter of 2008. Even the savage cuts coming up in the Public Sector are not expected to dampen demand too much as they will be more than balanced by greater demand in the financial and banking sectors.
The biggest skill shortages were in C#, .Net and Javascript, whilst there was also a shortage of Senior Business Analysts, Senior Test Analysts, Systems developers and Systems Administrators.
