Scotland shows ‘solid improvement’ in jobs market
Latest figures from the Bank of Scotland’s Report on Jobs indicate that demand for staff last month in Scotland increased at the fastest pace since September 2007. This points to a wider strengthening of the economy, which will come as good news to contractors operating in Scotland. Data from the Bank of Scotland’s Labour Market Barometer showed a reading of 53.8, which the company said indicated a ‘solid improvement’ in the country’s jobs market. Donald MacRae, Chief Economist at the Bank of Scotland, commented, “All eight sectors registered a rise in vacancies during March, with the strongest increase occurring within the IT and Computing sector. This latest Report on Jobs provides further evidence of the recovery in the Scottish economy.” Interestingly for contractors, the report also indicated that the city with the fastest increase in demand for non-permanent staff was Dundee.
