SJD’s Accounting for Time Campaign is Now Live
The number of self-employed people in the UK continues to rise and it’s unsurprising for us to see why. Contracting comes with a number of benefits – freedom, flexibility and the potential to earn more to name just a few.
But our recent data has revealed that DIY accounting is causing many contractors to become stressed. We surveyed 359 contractors to find out what they felt about doing their accounts and what they would rather be doing.
After viewing our survey results, we wanted to offer our contractors some advice, so we launched our Accounting for Time campaign.
What did the results reveal?
Of the 359 contractors surveyed, 70% admitted that doing their own accounts is a cause of stress. Their biggest worry was making a mistake (35%), followed by the time it takes (15%) and the complexity of the process (13%).
When asked what they would rather be doing with their time, 37% would rather spend that time with their family, almost 19% would prefer to be learning a new skill, over a sixth (17%) would rather be travelling and 15% would prefer socialising.
