UK jobs market remains firmly positive
According to a recent employment report, the UK’s jobs market is showing signs of growth.
The latest Manpower Employment Outlook Survey, questioned 2,101 employers across the UK on whether they intend to hire additional workers or reduce the size of workforce in the coming economic quarter.
The results were extremely positive showing that the jobs market is continuing to thrive; with an Outlook of +5% employers across the UK are looking to take on staff in the third quarter of 2013.
It is thought that the construction industry is a big reason as to why the UK is ‘digging’ its way out of the recession, as the sector is creating a large proportion of new job opportunities. Other sectors thought to be contributing to the UK’s growth include the technology, media and advertising industries, particularly within the capital.
Talking of which, the Manpower Survey also found that London hiring intentions are now the most optimistic in five years.
ManpowerGroup UK Managing Director, Mark Cahill explains further, “As we head into the summer months, the UK jobs market is not too hot, but not too cold either. It’s all about the Three ‘C’s: Construction, the Capital, and Consistency.
“Glance up and you’ll see that there are more cranes on the London skyline than in the rest of the country put together. But it’s not just fancy skyscrapers like the “Cheesegrater” and the “Walkie Talkie”– if you look down you’ve also got Crossrail, Europe’s largest construction project with 42km of tunnel connecting the city from East to West.”
